It is taken to soothe a variety of ailments including heartburn, stomach ulcers, digestive discomfort, sore throat, and coughs. Licorice has a distinctive flavor and sweetness that comes from the glycyrrhizin that composes up to 25% of the root's makeup. It is often likened to the flavor of anise and fennel seeds.
Common Use: Licorice has a distinctive flavor and sweetness. It can be prepared as a tea, tincture, or taken encapsulated. The sticks and slices may be chewed by themselves and are pleasant and tasty.

Very fine, makes a sort of 'mud'
So much of OM's product is fantastic. This licorice... it's cut so finely that it makes a sort of mud in the tea strainer, a fair bit of which comes through into the mug. Basically what reviewer Patti says. I do rather like licorice tea, but whenever I think of making some with my OM licorice I think "nah, gonna skip it".
need an answer
Is the glycyrrhizin removed from this licorice root? It was ok to begin with but now it throws me for a curve? Thx
