This variety of fig has been a staple in Mediterranean diets for thousands of years, prized for its jammy, sweet flavor and deeply chewy texture. The drying process concentrates the fig’s natural sugars, resulting in a rich, molasses-like sweetness that is truly unique.
These naturally sweet fruits are incredibly versatile for both culinary use and simple snacking. They are delicious served on their own, or they make a wonderful addition to granolas, cereals, and cheese or charcuterie platters. Due to their high sugar content, these figs are ideal for baking, where they act as a natural sweetener and moisture-retaining ingredient. A touch of organic sunflower oil keeps the fruit pieces separate. Keep these easy-to-use, distinctive dried fruits stocked for wholesome snacking or to add a touch of natural sweetness to your favorite recipes.

Please note: Sugar crystallization is a major challenge for dried fruits such as figs which have low moisture levels and high sugar contents. This is mainly a visual change (whitish sugar crystals on the outside of the fruit) and does not affect the quality. If desired, you can spread the figs on a baking sheet and carefully heat them on low heat to melt the exterior sugars which will return the figs to their original glossy appearance.
