Awesome product!
Used to mix in Gouda cheese curts, the taste is fantastic!
Real cumin flavour
As with all other OM Food products, I am impressed by the freshness of the cumin seeds, I also purchased fennel and caraway this time.. my only concern is that the packets are large, more than I would use in the normal course of a year, for these seeds. We do use large amounts of anis and black pepper, so that’s not a concern there,. However, these seeds are well packed and I trust they will last well in a cool storage room. To get the real flavour of cumin (and of black pepper) I used a South American technique: I roast the cumin seeds, maybe 2 Tbls. at a time, in a small iron frying pan at medium heat. Shake them or stir them for a few minutes until they release a nice roasted fragrance,. Be careful not to let them burn. Then grind them a small amount at a time in a mortar and pestle.. You won’t believe the difference! The roasted, grounded cumin can be stored in a glass jar in the dark until it’s sued up. ; María
Love OM products
When I couldn’t find organic spices elsewhere, OM had everything I needed. The packaging is beautiful, solid zip locks to keep things fresh (attractive too). So glad to have another Canadian company helping in these difficult times of COVID 19.
So nice to be able to buy this in bulk!
We go through a lot of cumin because Mexican seasonings never have enough (even OM Foods' otherwise really great chili powder blend). This is very good cumin, and I prefer the whole seed because it lasts longer. Good raw or toasted.
